The weather has turned, the heating is on, the bonfire has died down and Halloween seems like a distant memory- it can only mean one thing... Christmas is coming.
The chat in the pink Studio of late has often centred around actively reminding ourselves to slow down in anticipation of what is usually a chaotic time for us all! All too wrapped up (pun intended) in the pressures of spending lots of money and buying lots of gifts for people, panicking about festive attire or (shock horror) comparing our gift giving with others... did we spend too little? Is what we picked enough?
In turn this means that we don't actually think about what the recipient might really want- as in, what will they really cherish, find personally useful or what will strike a special, emotive note.
Sometimes, we neglect to take stock of what we're buying, we panic buy from brands whose ethical values don't match our own, and we forget that this time of year is really about having a care, taking time to rest, and to be with loved ones.
As a small, independent brand ourselves, we know right through to our core how much we rely on people's careful choices at this time of year in particular- every email, enquiry, Christmas-list-inclusion and purchase is valued and appreciated and makes a very real difference to the smooth running of our business- it helps us make the best choices moving forward and fuels our journey towards further ethical and sustainable growth.
With all this said, we encourage you to slow down, really consider your choices this Christmas. Buy less and buy better!
Here's a selection of our favourite ethical, sustainable and independent small brands to provide a little inspo before you let the panic seep in!
So of course, it goes without saying that we think our pieces make the BEST gifts- an item of clothing that is designed from the very start with sustainability in mind. Each piece is created with the intention that it should slide effortlessly into any lifestyle or wardrobe, and should stay there for the long haul. You can find the sustainability credentials (broken down into managable bulletpoints) of each product on their individual pages. Every single Stalf garment is designed, hand cut and made from scratch at our studio in Lincolnshire, UK.
Of course we love Jumpsuits - the gift of a whole outfit in one item- these are the Stalf garments we feel truly represent what we stand for.
Opt for the Cocoon for a classic Stalf look, or the Overalls (pictured below in Wisteria) for the ultimate in comfort (this style is fast becoming our bestselling item!)
We recommend our Sweatshirts for an item that is a total no-brainer pressie- one that we guarantee will be worn and worn and worn! Pair with the matching Sweatpants (and purchase together in our Bundle offer to save £25) for a super cosy gift.
Our Classic Tees and our super popular Lazy Vests are the perfect base layers for anyone's wardrobe. Once again, save ££s when you purchase in our Christmas offer bundle. We'll list details of all available bundles below. Mix and match on sizes and colours to really get the most out of the Christmas-pressie discount!
All of our Christmas Offers...
The Best of the Rest...
Here's what we'll be gifting alongside our Stalf this Christmas...
Daniella Draper is a brand very close to us geographically (as in their workshop is RIGHT NEXT DOOR) but also close to our hearts. The folks who run this brand have supported Stalf from the very, very beginning and are an endless font of advice, knowledge and sparkle!
All of Daniella’s pieces are handmade from recycled silver and gold and the most dreamy precious stones. Somehow Daniella's jewellery is different from all the rest, the weight of it, the quality- each piece feels like an heirloom regardless of how much you spend. Prices start from £25.
I love layering up my Mini Crescent Moon Necklace with my Five Star necklace, and anything with Rose Quartz. Take a look at their Horoscope Charms, Alphabet Collection or personalise one of their signature bangles for a truly personal piece.
We have two Christmas traditions here at the Pink Studio... the first, as soon as December hits we start to play our Stalf Christmas playlist. Number 2, we all don our Fable Heart crowns. It isn’t Christmas here until those two things happen.
The handmade crowns are made by the most enchanting brand, Fable Heart. They hand make the most perfect, magical gifts for little ones (or grown-ups who still believe in magic like us!)
Night Time Holiday is a small, independent jewellery brand, and is fast becoming one of or favourites!
Brooke’s clay earrings are colourful, eye catching and skilfully handmade from start to finish just down the road from us in Grimsby. Her (frankly delectable) earrings are all made from a polymer clay which is light weight and super comfortable to wear. All posts are all sterling silver.
I have a few pairs of Brooke's earrings in "Blossom Pink" the most perfect sugary shade- they match perfectly with my Stalf pastels.
Our faves from her current offering are the Dodger Hearts and the super cute Arch Studs, available in all the colours of the rainbow!
Check out the Arch Studs in Blossom Pink featured the whole way through our Christmas Campaign.
Tom Lane socks have been a staple item for us as the Pink Studio for years.
I have been buying socks from this brand season after season- they last well, wash well, and are just the most luxurious treat for your toes!
Tom Lane is another gorgeous Lincolnshire brand we want to shout about!
Our favourite pieces are the Alpaca Bed Socks in grey. We love to pair them with Birkenstocks or save them for Boxing Day cosiness paired with our Sweatshirt and Sweatpants combo.
'‘Dóttir’ translates as ‘daughter’ in Icelandic. Iceland is a special place close to my heart…it’s where magic exists.' A line taken from Dottir's website, which perfectly describes her ceramics, just magical!
It all started when I received a beautiful celestial pot as a gift last Christmas, I use it to store lip balms and skin serums on my dressing table, but you could use one to house succulents, rings and jewellery, stationary or any kind of trinkets.
We contacted Jess to ask if she'd be interested in working with us on a limited edition exclusive pot for our upcoming pop up event in Edinburgh. She translated one of my drawings into the most beautiful, magical finished item.
You can shop the pots at our Edinburgh Pop Up until 29th November, after which we will be adding them to our site.
We love Fat and The Moon for their all natural skin care.
Their products are often multi-taskers, so you get a lot of bang for your buck, not to mention we love the celestial vibe and the bathroom-shelfie-worthy packaging. Their ingredients are hardworking and high quality, and the whole brand ethos has a focus on healing and a generous indulgence in self-care and self- love.
Our faves are the Mermaid Mask, Moon Milk and All Cream.
WXY. Candles came onto our radar fairly recently.
When we reached out to the brand we found out that founder Rebecca was already a customer of ours! Needless to say we bonded via email over candle-and-jumpsuit-chat, and she kindly sent us over some of her beautiful items to try and to photograph. These are seriously stylish candles. They LOOK just as good as they smell. One thing that often irks me is the way a candle looks on my mantlepiece. When I spend so much time curating the environment I relax in, I really, really begrudge shoving a tatty-looking jar laden with garish stickers front and centre.
These beauties are clean burning, using 100% plant based wax, and are poured in the UK.
Last but by no means least, Tiger and Co.
These tiny tins PACK A PUNCH! When we lit our fave (Nutcracker btw, check it out for nutty, sweet and utterly festive goodness) in the studio, it filled the entire space in two minutes flat- I should note that we work in a big, open plan industrial unit with very high ceilings. These little tins totally blew us away!
Penelope hand pours her good enough to eat (vegan soy) candles at her home in the north west of England and we really can't recommend them enough for beyond reasonably priced stocking fillers or smaller gifts.
Take a look at the gift sets for Christmas, £30 will buy you a beautifully presented quartet of deliciously Christmassy scents, in a lovely box- the kind you keep to store old photographs in.
